designer Renske Versluijs graduated from the Master
Fashion design HKU in August 2008. In September 2008
she won the competition for 'most creative designer'
at the Upperground Festival in Amsterdam. From
January 22st until February the 22th she will present
her first collection 'I OBJECT' during an exhibition
in Petersburg Project Space.
'I OBJECT' answers towards the growing
dissatisfaction among women that do not recognize
themselves in the way women are portrayed in Western
visual culture. Therefore Renske Versluijs created a
collection inspired by cultures that deal with this
issue differently. The collection gives new insights
into women's fashion by exploring the boarders
between private and public.
The official opening will be on the 25th of January
with a performance and drinks!
During Fashion Week the window of Kvadrat will be the
place where fashion designer Gary Symor collaborates
with Renske Versluijs in creating a mise-en-scène
that uses interior textile in order to expand their
view on Fashion.

TRICK FILMS - LIVE CINEMA, slotavond SILENT NIGHTS zaterdag 17 januari
Op de slotavond zaterdag 17 januari kan het publiek naar binnen en wordt de stilte verbroken door een Live Cinema show. Met een introductie van Filmmuseum medewerker Nico de Klerk wordt op deze avond een vertoning van de 100 jaar oude truc films gecombineerd met hedendaagse Live Cinema performances door kunstenaars en musici. Performers als Karel Doing en Martijn van Boven laten hun nieuwste trucs zien in een grand finale, gecreëerd met moderne software, celluloid, video en live muziek.

Silent Nights, from silent trick films to Live Cinema, final night Saturday January 17
On the final night Saturday January 17 (8.30 pm) the silent trick films will be integrated with a contemporary Live Cinema show inside the project space in the presence of the audience. The early tricks will be introduced by Filmmuseum researcher Nico de Klerk and real-time audio visual performers Karel Doing and Martijn van Boven among others, show recent work made with modern software, celluloid, video, and live music.
